Who can use the truck?
Anyone that wants the benefits of electrical power (no emissions, low noise level, low operating costs) and the range of combustion motors.
Users could be cemeteries, airports, park authorities, etc.
What is the truck’s top speed?
The top speed is 20 km/h.
How many kilos can the truck carry?
The truck can carry loads of up to 1,000 kg.
Does the truck need a special plug/charger?
No. The charger requires an ordinary 220 volt plug.
How is methanol produced?
Methanol is a liquid better known as wood alcohol that today is usually produced from natural gas.
Methanol is used daily in de-icing products, glass cleaner and several cleaning agents.
What is the difference between methanol and bio methanol?
Bio methanol is methanol produced from biomass or the biodegradable element of waste (e.g. waste timber).
Why a fuel cell structure rather than a simple combustion engine that could run directly on methanol?
Because a fuel cell is more efficient, gives fewer emissions, and makes less noise. The working environment is very important to the truck’s users who want to keep noise and odours down.
How does the fuel cell work?
A fuel cell is often described as a chemical battery because it converts chemical energy directly to power. In EcoMotion’s case, the fuel cell’s chemical energy comes from the methanol fuel. The chemical energy can also stem from other fuels such as hydrogen.
What does methanol cost compared to petrol?
In the period 1 April to 30 May the price of methanol is DKK 1,474 DKK/m3, while the price of petrol in the same period has been an average of DKK 3,508/m3. The fuel used in EcoMotion is not 100% methanol, but a 40-60% blend of water and methanol.
Where can methanol be purchased?
For example from OK
Call Anne Holm on tel.: +45 89 32 23 25 to get the right 40-60% blend for Stama EcoMotion Truck.
How is methanol stored?
Like petrol and diesel. For example in tanks or jerry cans.
How much CO2 does methanol emit?
None.
Is it more dangerous to have an accident in an EcoMotion truck than in a vehicle running on petrol?
No.
Is it possible to get burnt on the exhaust?
Yes, but the exhaust is discharged, so it is not any worse than for combustion vehicles.
How do I dispose of an EcoMotion vehicle?
The same way as for all other vehicles – by contacting a car breaker.
Are there any special safety measures to take when using an EcoMotion truck rather than an ordinary vehicle?
It is important to follow the user’s manual regarding start up of fuel cells. It is not dangerous, but methanol must be treated with the same caution as petrol and diesel.
